DV

2/3rds of married women in India are victims of domestic violence and one incident of violence translates into women losing seven working days in the country, according to a United Nations report.

Women can sometimes not even recognise domestic violence and go on tolerating it until nothing remains of them. Some live in denial, and some are too underconfident of finding another mate if they walk out of the relationship. It all stems from how women are conditioned to be, nurturing and tolerant, paragons of virtue and bearers of morality. Any deviance from these qualities and we are labeled "bitches, whores, sluts".

I am a huge fan of Post-Secret, and for those who dont know what post secret is, it is a portal started by thie Maryland fellow who invites people to reveal their deepest darkest secrets through post cards, and keeps them anonymous :)...I was moved by one woman who seemed to be a dv victim (although I hate using this word victim in this context, I am going to still use it), and the picture that accompanied it. So here it is, I hope you all are as moved by it as much as I am.

The Indian woman is becoming confident by the day......she tries to balance the relationship...at times almost single handedly.....on top of that domestic voilence, physical or mental is a killer in the relationship....because after that anything else is not love or respect or affection, but just compromise........

True Abhishek!! Women all around the world are trying to release themselves from the cage they are put in. Not only Indian women, but women everywhere have the same problem. But violence of any kind is a damper, because many women compromise so that the person they love or "believe they love" will not get hurt. But truth is that dv's effects are massive, it effects fertility, population, the economy and many other things...Compromise sucks :(

Indian women's conditions are not changed , especially in rural areas. It's because thinking of men and WOMEN(plese note women) has not changed.Women are still thinking that they are inferior to men. They are not ready to leave years long useless traditions. When a girl child is born in the family others ladies of the family starts crying. They curse mother and new born. This the cruel reality. And just see the dowry system ,mother-in-laws ( and sister-in-laws ) are more harrasing their daughter-in-laws.
We Indians are still living in "MAN MADE AND MAN DOMINATING" society.Due to lack of education men are still dominating in families.
Poverty is the other factor.
Women are still dependent on men.
Changes are coming but it will take years to change the thinking of people.
Let's do something.
Mother is next to GOD and we respect her.She deserve it ...and mother is a woman...therefore she should be respected.

I respect woman liberation. But
there is a larger community that started misusing the term DV.
