Why am I a feminist?
Because women's work is never done and is underpaid or unpaid or boring or repetitious and we're the first to get fired and what we look like is more important than what we do and if we get raped it's our fault and if we get beaten we must have provoked it and if we raise our voices we're nagging bitches and if we enjoy sex we're nymphos and if we don't we're frigid and if we love women it's because we can't get a "real" man and if we ask our doctor too many questions we're neurotic and/or pushy and if we expect childcare we're selfish and if we stand up for our rights we're aggressive and "unfeminine" and if we don't we're typical weak females and if we want to get married we're out to trap a man and if we don't we're unnatural and because we still can't get an adequate safe contraceptive but men can walk on the moon and if we can't cope or don't want a pregnancy we're made to feel guilty about abortion and...for lots of other reasons we are part of the women's liberation movement. ~Author unknown

Bond Posters!

The Earlier Bond posters were so awesome, and I am uploading a few of my favorite ones. These were taken from cinemasterpiecesdotcom, the mention of which is a necessity in this day and age of plagiarism. Anyhow, these posters exemplify the sauveness, debonair, sex appeal, living on the edge nature of our favorite spy, Bond..
The name is Bond!!!
Ok, so a traditional feminist will peel the flesh of my bones if they come to know of my love for the Donovan of all men...JB himself. There is something about the guy that attracts me. Its not the actors that play the character of Bond, but its the character itself, OK maybe Craig and Lazenby have stirred my emotions, but keeping that aside, Bond is the suavest (if that word exists) spy in this universe.
I am writing about Bond because Quantum of Solace releases this November. 14th to be precise, and I am desperately waiting. Craig was great in Casino Royale, and I am hoping to see better in QOS.
Well did you know Casino Royale was supposed to be the first JB flick, but Dr. No ended up being the first production. I have seen all, except for the Timothy Dalton ones, and I dont even want to watch them. Maybe I am being shallow here, but he didnot, in my opinion look the part. Julian Macmahon could have been a better Bond than him, of course he is great as Christian in NipTuck, but thats another post.
Sean Connery, was a great JB too, and his best I think was Goldfinger and even Russia with Love, which by the way was JFK's favorite book. And then I feel Lazenby, the Australian model was the absolute best. But unfortulately his movie was the one and only Lazenby JB starrer. On her majesty's secret service is awesome, and thats when Bond actually marries, its the saddest part when she dies, and Bond never falls in love like that again. A truely vulnerable Bond...
Catch the intro scene on youtube, and if you are a Bond fan, you will enjoy how Lazenby sets the scene to show the transition from the Connery phase...
All he says when he saves Diana Rigg, and fails to shag her is "This never happened to the other guy"..

Then also watch OHMSS's opening titles, just like Goldfinger's intro, OHMSS contain snippets of all the previous JB flicks...Enjoy!! Also, this is mostly an instrumental theme unlike all other Bond opening soundtracks..

My better half!
About Me
I am a woman (as you can see) about to soon finish living a third of her life, currently residing in the sunshine state of Florida, USA. I am pursuing a doctorate in Communication Studies from Florida State University, and hopefully will be done soon. I have varied interests, and hope that my blog will be of interest to many. My views are my own, and are simply meant to represent my voice. In this age of legalities, this should be a disclaimer, as I am not hurting anyone or meaning to. And if anyone is, suck it up and leave the site...
I will post many things on multiple topics that interest me, and invite comments on my posts. Please feel free to suggest, comment, and analyze my writings. The blog will contain pieces on thoughts, opinions, current affairs, food, music, and everything else that exists in this universe.
More about me: I have been teaching since 2005 as a teaching assistant, as well as a stand alone instructor for multiple courses such as Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Communication Theory. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and love to do research on health, women's health, gender, and culture.
I love food, and am a first order gourmand. I could travel just to eat, and take great pleasure in cooking as well as eating. I relish foods of all kinds, and up till a point I could eat anything with legs. Unfortunately my devoted and pious mother weaned me off the cow, and I have been off the bovine flesh since 4-5 years. Nevertheless, it tasted very good.
I am also a feminist, and from time to time there will be topics that relate to that. But let me take the liberty of correcting some ideas that people have about feminism. The first misconception is that feminists are fighters for women's upliftment only, but the harsh truth is that feminism is for everybody's rights. True feminism wants equality for everybody. Because let us face the truth, we are living in a society where men not only compete with women, but also are pitted against other men. Thus men are equally pressured. So true feminism wants an environment that is fertile for the holistic growth of men, women, glbts, children...everybody.
With that thought, I will stop blowing my own trumpet! Because I know I will show many instances of narcissism in my posts. But I sincerely hope people enjoy my blog and comment on it.
