2/3rds of married women in India are victims of domestic violence and one incident of violence translates into women losing seven working days in the country, according to a United Nations report.
Women can sometimes not even recognise domestic violence and go on tolerating it until nothing remains of them. Some live in denial, and some are too underconfident of finding another mate if they walk out of the relationship. It all stems from how women are conditioned to be, nurturing and tolerant, paragons of virtue and bearers of morality. Any deviance from these qualities and we are labeled "bitches, whores, sluts".
I am a huge fan of Post-Secret, and for those who dont know what post secret is, it is a portal started by thie Maryland fellow who invites people to reveal their deepest darkest secrets through post cards, and keeps them anonymous :)...I was moved by one woman who seemed to be a dv victim (although I hate using this word victim in this context, I am going to still use it), and the picture that accompanied it. So here it is, I hope you all are as moved by it as much as I am.
